CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP ACADEMY

Home schooling is a growing movement within our nation and around the world as Christians take serious the call to train up the next generation as disciples of Jesus Christ. As parents, we are the main instruments God uses to shape and prepare our children for their part in His eternal plan. Although the challenges are great, I believe God’s grace is sufficient as we raise our children for holy service and Kingdom impact.

Christian Fellowship Academy is a ministry of Christian Fellowship Center and exists for the sole purpose of helping parents train and educate their children at home. Enclosed you’ll find information about CFA; our philosophy, our enrichment program, our support systems, tuition costs and more. You will also find an application. Please understand that families that apply must be approved and entrance is not automatic. Important factors include but are not limited to; husband and wife in agreement about home-schooling, the children do not have any major behavior problems, and your pastor is supportive of your involvement with CFA. Facility size constraints and number of teachers also may limit the number of children able to participate in our Friday enrichment program.

Whether you’re simply considering the possibility of home schooling or you’re a veteran of many years, please contact us at (315) 322-4758 with any questions regarding CFA. We look forward to serving you in any way possible.

Sincerely in Christ,
Michael W. Tomford

PHILOSOPHY

Christian Fellowship Academy is a Christian Home Schooling Ministry designed to assist parents in the exciting and challenging task of preparing their children for a lifetime of service to God. Holy Scripture defines true success not in terms of income, occupation, social status, or class, but as faithfulness to God, which yields the commendation from Him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of the Lord."

HOME EDUCATION

MINISTRY

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP ACADEMY IS CHRISTIAN

CFA begins with the premise that the only true education is a Christian education. This premise is based on the fact that only Christian education deals with all the dimensions of life as viewed from God's perspective.

REALITY

God is the personal and purposeful Creator and represents the guiding force of the universe. Reality in life involves the understanding that God is real and is active in the lives of men and women.

TRUTH

All truth is God's truth. Truth is consistent throughout the universe. Truth exists and is an absolute. God has shown Himself through His Scriptures, and man's understanding of the truth comes through a study of the inspired Word of God and an understanding of His creation.

KNOWLEDGE

All knowledge must be put in the context of Bible truth. Any knowledge or personal conviction which serves as a guiding principle in an individual's life must be based on truth as revealed in God's inspired Word.

MAN

Man is created in the image and likeness of God. Through the fall of Adam, man's essential nature is corrupt and worthy of God’s just wrath. Through the cross of Jesus Christ, man can be forgiven, reconciled to God, and adopted into His family.

ETERNAL JUDGEMENT

Every man and woman ever created will one day stand before Jesus Christ as judge. At that judgement the eternal fate of every individual will be declared, some going on to eternity with God, and others being banished for all eternity to hell.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP ACADEMY IS HOME EDUCATION

It has always been a part of God's plan that parents are ultimately responsible for the education and development of their children. Through a home-based format, CFA reinforces the Biblical teachings of parental authority and responsibility, and at the same time declares the prophetic message of Malachi chapter 4:

"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse "

INDIVIDUAL

Home education is a highly individualized approach to grooming children. It is based on the Biblical model of discipleship relationships, as opposed to the classroom or group-communication approach. In the home school environment children are:

1.Known intimately by their instructors (Dad and Mom).
2.Encouraged to develop at a pace and in those areas which are congruent to their gifting and talents.

TRANSFER OF WISDOM

The Word of God repeatedly exhorts children to rely upon the wise counsel of their parents. Home schooling helps facilitate interaction between children and their parents, thereby strengthening the transmission of godly values and reinforcing positive family role models.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Home schooling encourages parents to take responsibility for the nurturing of their offspring, for God has charged them with that task. God ordained the home as an institution and has placed children in the home for instruction, correction, counsel, and discipline. It is the parents who will answer to God for the manner in which their children are raised, the influences to which they are exposed, and the values which they are taught.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP ACADEMY IS A MINISTRY

CFA is a ministry of Christian Fellowship Center that serves the greater body of Christ in northern New York. We have been serving in this capacity since 1983.

PASTORAL CARE

CFA is a ministry directly connected to a New Testament local church. This means CFA is not simply a group of like-minded families working together but is actually a ministry under the oversight of called, gifted and mature men of God. This is one thing that makes CFA unique. This structure has allowed many Christian families from a variety of Christian churches to experience a healthy support network as they home school their children.

SHARED RESOURCES

Godly Dads and Moms are by far the most valuable resource of the CFA home schooling community. The 48,000 sq. ft. old Madrid Elementary School and a large curriculum library have also been a great blessing to the ministry of CFA.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

In Romans 15:1-2 the Word of God says, “Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.” NASU This verse certainly describes the environment of CFA. Home schooling for the first time can be an intimidating task. Having someone with experience can be an invaluable resource. CFA is that network of brothers and sisters in Christ who can be that source of wisdom and inspiration. Having a loving support network can often make the difference between success and failure as you embark on the adventure of home schooling your children.
